What are Values?
Read out loud
Your values are the beliefs and ideals that matter most to you. They can help you make decisions you're proud of and become the person you want to be. Today we'll talk about which values are most important to us at school, both as inviduals and as a community.

Discussion
Needed Materials: whiteboard or a projected google doc
- Have students quietly think of three values that are most important to them at school.
- Which values did you choose? Let's take a quick poll. Write students' values on the whiteboard, noting how many times each value was chosen.
- Identify the 6 to 10 most commonly chosen values. For each, call on a student to explain why it's important.
- Now let's narrow down our list to the 5-7 most important values for our school. Review the values and then complete the activity below.
- Reflection:
- If these were personal values what would you add to the list? Why?
- Select one of the values and give an example of someone who demonstrates it very well.
- What happens if someone doesn't have the same values?
